Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada...

It was frigid cold outside on the deck today as I ventured out to take sail in photographs but at least it was daylight. Being a later arrival into Halifax this voyage, I was able to get photos of the Chebucto Head Lighthouse, Sambro Lighthouse, Maugher Beach Lighthouse and the Georges Island Lighthouse just off the Halifax waterfront. Cathy, Ann, myself and our friend Judy left the ship headed for Lunenburg and Peggy’s Cove.  This was Judy’s first visit to Lunenburg and Peggy’s Cove and it was gorgeous fall day. The drive to the Nova Scotia South Shore was lovely as the trees have started to change.  Arriving in Luneburg we first stopped across the harbor for a panoramic view of this picturesque town.  Lunenberg is the best surviving example of a planned British colonial settlement in North America. Today, the famous Bluenose II racing schooner was in port.  We strolled the hilltop streets taking in the historic painted houses, streetscapes and the waterfront before leaving for Peggy’s Cove. It was a fabulous day to go to Peggy’s Cove.  We made a brief stop to see Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse from a distance then onto to Peggy's Cove.  We parked the car and got out and walked this picturesque village.  Peggy’s Cove is famed for its Lighthouse and typical East-Coast fishing village, with colorful houses perched along a narrow inlet.  On our return to Halifax, we stopped at both West and East Dover, unique small fishing villages along the Nova Scotia South shore.  We had a really fun day touring the South Shore of Nova Scotia on a beautiful day with close friends and the fall colors were even better than out last trip to Halifax….  Another wonderful day on this spectacular visit to Canada & New England aboard the beautiful Nieuw Statendam….
