Georgetown, Grand Cayman...

Well, it’s been an interesting couple of days….  As many of you know, my friend Cathy tested positive yesterday for COVID-19.  Her sister Ann & I have to be tested for 5 days, so far, we have had negative results.  Today, we were in Georgetown, Grand Cayman.  Over the years, Grand Cayman was always one of my favorite places but today, it was no to be….  Before we arrived, I had decided that I really didn’t want to experience one of the 250 person tenders since I’m trying to manage my COVID exposure risk.  So, it was another glorious day in the Retreat…  Wish me luck, in the morning I have my day 3 of 5 test before going ashore in Ocho Rios….

Half Moon Cay, The Bahamas...

Today was a spectacular day as we anchored off Half Moon Cay….  Joining us was the Nieuw Statendam.  We spent the day, once again, onboard in the Retreat…  It really comes down to minimizing COVID exposure.  Just is not appealing to travel in those huge tenders packed tight with Guests.  Still have to pass that weekly test.  Anyway, it’s really lovely to just stay onboard.  Tomorrow, we have a day at sea followed by Grand Cayman…  Always love it there, but despite that, there is a 250-passenger tender to take Guests ashore so Grand Cayman may not happen for us.   My original plan when I retired was to spend the winters on Grand Cayman.  Hurricane Ivan really did a lot of damage to the island shortly after my retirement so that plan never came about…  I replaced it with living most of the year on a cruise ship…  Not just any cruise ship, a Holland America Line Dam ship!
