Today was definitely not a Half Moon Cay beach day… We experienced heavy cloud cover and ongoing rain showers throughout the day. In between the showers, I did layout for a bit in the Retreat and we also found a spot in the Lido pool area to escape the rain. It was a good day for a massage which I was able schedule for mid-afternoon... Also noteworthy, we were anchored alongside the Island Princess in Half Moon Cay this afternoon while a transfer of crew recovering from COVID was made back to the Rotterdam and crew currently suffering with COVID were offloaded to the Island Princess for the required quarantine period… Just part of the new normal! Holland America is managing the COVID procedures very well…. While it is great to be back on the Rotterdam, I am greatly disappointed to find that during the 3-day voyage for the Travel Industry, they elected to get rid of the Smoking prohibition in the Casino. Now, it’s back to having that disgusting smell of cigarette smoke. I don’t think the Medical Department had a part in that decision… On the other hand, I want to thank the management of Holland America Line, I won’t be a regular player there anymore and look at all the money I’ll save…. I guess I was really hoping that Holland America would have taken this opportunity and keep it nonsmoking… This is a big win for smokers… whether they are gambling or not, they have a haven to puff away. You can even smell the smoke all the way down to BB King on deck 3. Very sad…. Now they need to update their published policy which still specifically states “Smoking will not be permitted in the Casino.” Tomorrow, we have a day at sea with better weather conditions in the forecast…. Making our way to Grand Turk.
