Zuiderdam MegaVoyage 2018-2019, Castries, St Lucia

It was a pretty interesting day in St Lucia…..  The weather forecast was for rain and 25-30mph winds so my expectations were set pretty low.  It turned out better than expected, the high winds never materialized and the rain was intermittent….  Just when you thought it was time to set up your pool chair, another squall would invariably appear.  I went for a walk into town, exploring some of the side streets and even going by the church, it being Sunday.  Nice walk, did get drenched in one downpour (camera stayed dry).  I got my 10 miles in for the day and that was one of my major priorities.  After my walk about in town, I returned to the ship and set up my lounge chair…..  for a while.  I spent a fair amount of the afternoon, staying dry and chatting with my friends Jane & Barry.  After departure, we sailed toward Soufriere Bay and the Pitons…..  Our scenic cruising was a bit of a challenge from time to time when the island would disappear in a passing shower….  It was, in the end, a lovely scenic cruise….  As a result of all today’s activities, I have posted way too many photos for one blog post but, that’s just how it is today….  Praying for my sister Lisa, major eye surgery tomorrow morning for a detached retina at the macula….  Bad stuff!

  1. Hi, Jeff...
Thanks for all the photos. So happy to hear you continue to walk (10 miles today) and enjoying the Diet Coke. Seems like it's the only way to combat the continual shipboard meals. Ten miles at say 150 calories/ mile allows you to eat two desserts totaling 1500 calories. Enjoy!!
Curious to hear how you deal with the never-ending HAL menu choices.
