Zuiderdam MegaVoyage 2018-2019, Kristiansand, Norway, Part 1 of 2

My first visit to Kristiansand and a stellar weather day...we walked along the pier past the Kilden Performing Arts Center...the Pier offers many restaurants, small boat traffic and the Fish Market. We continued along the waterfront to the Christianholm Fortress built in 1672. In keeping with the Oslo flower theme, thousands of beautiful flowers can be seen all around Kristiansand...next we left the oceanfront and walked to the Otra River taking in the boats and beautiful reflections. Our next area of interest was the Posebyen, one of Northern Europe's largest collections of charming, old, white wooden houses...making our way to the Kristiansand Cathedral, a Neo-Gothic structure built in 1884 and one of Kristiansand’s most impressive buildings. From Central Square we wandered the Markengate pedestrian street shopping and taking in all that Kristiansand had to offer...we returned to the ship via the harbor front...the area was bustling with people, a major change from the early morning. It was a great day in the quaint town of Kristiansand….
