Zuiderdam MegaVoyage 2018-2019, Oslo, Norway, Part 1 of 2

The day started out very cold and rainy but cleared up nicely for our walking tour of Oslo. For almost 3 hours this morning I braved the cold and rain to take photos of our sail into Oslo through the Oslofjord…  just beautiful!!!  The flowers in Oslo were beautiful, a noticeable change since our last visit May 30th...again, we had a great docking spot below the Akershus Fortress and Castle. We left the ship and took a different direction today, following the harbor to Oslo City Hall, the Nobel Peace Center and up to the Royal Palace. Following Oslo’s Grand main artery Karl Johan’s Gate, we passed the National Theatre, Oslo University, the Parliament Buildings and the Grand Hotel...making our way to the Train Station, we passed the Oslo Cathedral and the Opera House...the Opera House is in a very contemporary architecture style built to represent a glacier. Passing the Akershus Fortress/Castle we decided to stop in for a look at this Medieval castle built in 1300 AD... the building was expanded in the mid-17th century and is an impressive stronghold overlooking both the harbor and the City. Oslo is a lovely walkable city with many squares, parks and statues scattered throughout the city center….  It was another Grand day.
