We arrived into Sydney to a beautiful warm sunny day. Our
friends Laura, Bobby and Donna were at the ship to greet us when we arrived in
Cape Breton Island Nova Scotia. Laura was our tour guide and off we went to the
Fortress of Louisbourg. The Fortress of Louisbourg is the largest fortified
town outside of Europe. This fortified town brings you back to a French
colonial life between 1713 and 1758 and an important site during the British -
French struggle for what is now modern-day Canada. There was a good selection
of buildings, Kings Bastions, barracks, homes, storehouses, chapel, hotel,
bakery and exhibits as costumed actors re-enact the lives of specific
individuals that resided here. It was a very enjoyable day at the Fort and the
homemade bread was delicious. On our return to Sydney we had a picturesque
drive along the shore of the Atlantic Ocean with a stop at the Louisbourg
Lighthouse. Back in Sydney we stopped for lunch and did some shopping at the
pier. It was a great day in friendly Cape Breton.
Thanks for taking us along Jeff....it's been a fantastic trip...!!!!
