This was our third time to Kiel but it was the first time
we had a chance to explore Kiel. Today, we followed the Blue Line from the
cruise terminal. The blue line is a walking tour of Kiel...Some of the highlights
of this adventure were Kiel Castle, Kiel Monastery that was founded in 1233,
St. Nicholas Church, City Hall, Opera House and the Central Train Station. We
wandered the pedestrian street mall to the Horn Bridge and crossed the harbor
over the three-section folding bridge to the East part of Kiel. Unfortunately,
the rain moved in so we retraced our steps back to the ship through Kiel’s Old
Town. Kiel is a quaint seaside town...another good day. Wishing all my family
and friends at home in the USA, a very safe and happy July 4th.
