I was up early for the sail into Bar Harbor and was not thrilled with the dense fog but all of a sudden it cleared, and I went for my camera to capture a shot of the Egg Rock Lighthouse and the scenic sail in. Once anchored, we had a bit of a delay with the arrival of US Immigration officers. We must give a shout out to the crew of the Zaandam for their proactive organizational skills, equipment and signage in directing the passengers in an orderly fashion to be processed through US Customs and Border Protection this morning…best I have seen on any ship…Well Done Zaandam! We were off on the first tender to tour Bar Harbor. Meandering around the harbor front from the town pier we headed for the Shore Path that winds along the bay overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Following this waterfront path, we passed the Bar Harbor Inn and it’s the beautifully landscaped gardens. It was a great time of the day to be in town as the tide was low and before the crowd. We walked up Main Street did some shopping and made a stop at our favorite haunt the Stadium Coffee Hound for coffee and scones. Cathy and I both scored new ON shoes at the Cadillac Mountain Sporting store. The streets of Bar Harbor were packed with people, two ships in port and bus tours on fall tours to the area. This is the first time I have been in Bar Harbor with two ships in town…crowded to say the least! You could hardly move on the streets so we decided to return to the ship before the masses decided to return. Another beautiful day in Bar Harbor. Tomorrow we are in Boston and looking forward to our dear friend Florin Dragomir boarding the ship.
