Boston Massachusetts, USA...

I did not do sail in photos, just too early for our arrival…  before sunrise.   After we were docked, I went out on the forward deck to check things out and we were we were docked in between two ships. We got off the ship at 8 am and started our walk to downtown Boston. We left the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal in the Seaport District and headed to Faneuil Hall. The Seaport District was once home to historic warehouses and industrial spaces, this South Boston Waterfront has been transformed into a creative and entertainment hub with something for everyone. Stylish waterfront, loads of beautiful high-rise buildings, restaurants and bars abound in the glitzy Seaport District. The Harbor walk offered a perfect way to explore the waterfront. The weather was overcast but cleared up nicely to sunny blue skies in the mid 70’s. Once we crossed the Seaport Blvd Bridge, we stopped at Rowes Wharf for coffee and pastries. We then followed State Street past the iconic Customs House Building to the Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market both regal structures that witnessed countless historical events during the lead-up to the revolution. From here we started following the Freedom Walking Trail to the old State House, now a subway station with a museum at one end. Next, we came upon the Kings Chapel and adjacent burial ground…here we made way for a protest march against China and Pakistan’s deceitful ways and inhumane treatment of people. Making our way down Tremont Street we toured the Old Granary Burial Grounds established in 1660. Some of America's most notable citizens rest here like Paul Revere, Benjamin Franklin and Samuel Adams. Our next stop was the Old South Meeting House, which is actually the place where the famous Boston Tea Party got started. Our tour ended at the Boston Common flanked by the beautiful Boston State House, topped with a gold dome and the 54th Regiment Memorial, honoring some of the first Black Americans to fight in the Civil War.  The city was getting very busy so we decided to return to the ship. Before boarding the ship, we took the opportunity to update our phones in the cruise terminal. It was a pleasant day in Boston and added to that was spending a few minutes welcoming our friend Florin onboard….  Loving every day here on the Zaandam!

  1. Pudge: Thanks for the nice comments about BOS. One correction = Ben Franklin's family is buried here. Franklin himself is in Philadelphia. However, Mother Foose is there to the right of the Franklin obelisk. Roids
