I
was up very early for the sail into Halifax. We rented a car near to the
pier and were off and running...Cathy, Ann and I, with our Google Maps in hand,
headed to Lunenburg and Peggy’s Cove. Today’s stop in Halifax was shorter than
normal so time bring a factor we decided to forego a stop in Mahone Bay. As
luck would have it, the GPS routed us through Mahone Bay…a nice surprise…the
reflections shots of the 3 churches and the bay were the best ever. Arriving at
the picturesque town of Lunenburg, a designated UNESCO World Heritage site, our
first stop was the Bluenose Golf Course for a panoramic viewpoint across the
harbor to the town. Unfortunately, the iconic Bluenose was not in port today.
Back in town we walked around taking in the historic painted buildings,
streetscapes and the waterfront. It was a picture-perfect weather
day…just a fabulous day to go to Lunenburg. Peggy's Cove is famous for
its Lighthouse and picturesque typical maritime fishing village look, even
though it is a preserved area it is still a working fishing village of colorful
wooden houses and lobster boats moored in the harbor. We had another beautiful
day touring Nova Scotia’s South shore. The start of the fall colors and the
wonderful reflection shots made the day… Just a fabulous day!!!
