Charlottetown, P.E.I, Canada...

With a later arrival, I was up and out for our sail into Charlottetown. I was able to get a great photo of Block Island Lighthouse. I also loved taking lots of photos of my beloved Zuiderdam sailing in behind us with my good friend Bart Vaartjes as the Captain.  We decided to walk around town today before we boarded the Zuiderdam to visit longtime ship friends. With two ships in, it was busy on the pier this morning and was nice to see familiar faces from the Zuiderdam. We started our walk about through Confederation Landing Park around the harbor to Peake’s Wharf, the waterfront boardwalk. We looked in a few shops before walking to St. Dunstan's Basilica, Great George Street Historic District with its beautifully preserved Georgian architecture, Victoria Row and back along Queen Street to the Convention Centre. We followed the harbor back to Peake’s Wharf…when in Charlottetown you must try Cows Ice Cream. The Zuiderdam’s Hotel General Manager’s Executive Assistant, our friend  Yvonne made the arrangements for us to visit the ship and meet with the Captain Bart Vaartjes, Henk Mensink, Hotel General Manager and his wife Christel, Shiv Charan, Executive Housekeeper, Jonathan Werleman, Food and Beverage Manager and Ian Page, Cruise and Travel Director….it was a great reunion and we would like to thank everyone for taking the time out of their busy schedules to meet with us today. After bidding farewell to our Zuiderdam ship family we had a delicious lunch at Mackinnon’s Lobster on the Wharf with Yvonne and our friend Patrick Crean who is sailing on the Zuiderdam until May 2024. Lunch was delicious, thank you Patrick…it is always a pleasure to spend time with great friends. After lunch we came back to the ship…another great day in Charlottetown.
