Willemstad, Curaçao

I took a few photos on the top deck before leaving the ship just to get a look at the day. What I saw was a deeply overcast and it wasn’t going to be a day in the sun…  Bummer! We docked very early today (0700) but only got off the ship at 9 am. After disembarking the ship, we headed to the Otrobanda area of Willemstad on the hunt for murals and street art. In this revitalized area you see buildings turned into massive murals. Every mural has a story to tell, whether it’s moments in history, traditions, or way of viewing life. Being a Sunday morning, it was very quiet on the streets. We spent a couple of hours wandering through all the alleyways in Otrobanda finding some hidden gems and amazing works of art. Making our way back to the ship we crossed the Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge to the Punda side of Willemstad. I walked on the sea wall below the Water Fort to get a clear photo of the Rotterdam before returning to the ship. We will miss our stops in Curaçao as today was our last visit for this season. We really miss seeing Aart & Ellen but are happy that they are enjoying the World Voyage on the Zuiderdam…
