Our second port of the cruise was the Georgetown, Grand Cayman. The Cayman Islands is a major international financial center and hub for tourism… This gives the Caymanians the highest standard of living as well as the highest cost of living in the Caribbean. This was also, the original plan for where I would spend my winters until Hurricane Ivan disrupted that plan... We were all up an hour earlier than we had to as we failed to notice there was a time change of an hour back overnight…We got the first tender off the ship, and it was quite the experience. Boarding the tender took much longer than anticipated due to the swells but we finally made it to town. This was my sister Lisa and her husband Jim’s first visit to the Cayman Islands. The weather truly cooperated today as it was a beautiful sunny day. We took a stroll along Georgetown’s Main Street, visited a few stores for souvenirs and stopped for a drink at the Hard Rock Cafe. We returned to the ship on an empty tender and spent the remainder of the morning and afternoon in the Retreat. Tonight, we are having dinner in the Tamarind, our onboard Pan Asian restaurant. Loving every day!!!
