Castries, Saint Lucia...

I did a few sail in photos this morning only because I’ve been having sleeping issues.. .  We were the first ship in and parked at the opposite side of Pointe Serephine.   It has been a long time since I have been on a ship that has parked at La Place Carenage cruise terminal…Right in the center of town.  As usual I was off the ship as soon as it was cleared by the authorities and off to walk in town and walked towards the Pointe Seraphine cruise terminal.  I made my normal stop at the fishing boat dock to talk with the boys cleaning up after bringing in the days catch. After taking some photos I headed back to downtown Castries, chatted with so local folks and back to the ship. Returning to the ship, we spent the day in the Retreat between rain showers.  The St Lucia sail away included scenic cruising along the Soufriere Bay passing the famous Pitons. The majority of the afternoon was spent replanning a segment of our upcoming Zuiderdam cruise.  We were not happy to receive a message this morning from Holland America notifying us of an itinerary change on our June 11, 2023, voyage in the Svalbard region.  The Zuiderdam's call to Longyearbyen, Norway has been cancelled and replaced Alta, Norway and the scenic cruising of Liefdefd Fjord and the Polar Icecap has been replaced with Hammerfest, Norway. They have cancelled Ny Alesund, Spitsbergen, Norway and replaced with but Trondheim, Norway and Seydisfjordur, Iceland. This is extremely disappointing for us….it is actually the main reason we booked this series of cruises on the Zuiderdam.
