I had a wonderful tour today provided by American Express Travel touring Cartagena… Before the tour began I went outside of the terminal looking for a bit of wildlife. I remembered that there were monkeys and an assortment of birds, including toucans from my visit here earlier in 2013. After snapping a number of photos I walked back to the ship to catch the tour. Our first stop was La Popa, the monastery at the top of the hill overlooking the city. Nice stop!!! Next we stopped at the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas… one impressive fort! Next it was off to Las Bovedas, “The Dungeons” where today they have lots of handicraft stores. Then we went into the old walled city. Here we walked around looking at the buildings and beautiful churches and the cathedral… It provided a nice overview of the walled city. Our final stop was at the Hotel Monterrey Cartagena for drinks and a light meal made up of local foods…. It made for a wonderful day! If the internet continues to work it will be a magnificent day!
