Oranjestad, Aruba....

We were the lone ship in port on our arrival in Aruba with a clear view of the island this morning…. I elected to not get up for our sail into Oranjestad at 7:00 am, just too early.  Cathy and I got off the ship at 08:00 hrs. and did our usual walk about downtown Oranjestad. We walked along the waterfront to Queen Wilhelmina Park looking for iguanas, not many sunning on the rocks due to the rough seas. We had a refreshment break at Starbucks before continuing along the back streets. Taking in the sights. We stopped at our favorite store, the Sea and Sand for some quick shopping. The dark clouds were rolling in fast, and the rain started just as we went through the gate and took harbor in the cruise terminal waiting out the downpour. Returning to the ship we went to the Retreat for the remainder of the day…just after noon the Royal Caribbean Rhapsody of the Seas docked followed by the Holland America Line Nieuw Amsterdam. The dark clouds rolled in from time to time, but it was a lovely day overall.  Another beautiful day in paradise!  Our sail away was great!  Nice views of the island as we departed, enabled me to catch those things I would have missed early this morning…  Wonderful day!

  1. Hi Jeff, Have so much catching up to do. Hope you've been well and the cruise is going well. Steff is recovering from Covid so holiday plans are postponed until next month. Will be good to get back into my routine of following your adventures. Wishing you sunshine and smooth seas.
