We had a late arrival time into Bimini that I missed and wondered why we there was no land in site for what I thought our scheduled of 9:00am. I looked at my GPS and saw we had 30some miles to go... Turns out, I missed the fact that we had a 10:00 am arrival. The five of us walked the Bimini pier to the main road to pick up our golf cart rental and started our island tour. We toured the island taking in the sites…we have been to Bimini before but for Laura and Bobbi it was a first-time visit. Bimini island was a favorite of Ernest Hemingway and, according to some, a possible location in the lost city of Atlantis. Miles of white sand beaches and clear blue-green turquoise waters await you, along with endless opportunities for fishing, diving, and water sports. We stopped at the Dolphin House; the house is constructed entirely of recycled material. Touring Bimini by golf cart is a relaxing way to see the North Island, as there is very little traffic, actually more golf carts than cars…We stopped at the Bimini Craft Center before heading to Radio Beach, a flat picturesque white sand beach…today the tide was very low, and I encountered the remains of a shipwreck normally covered by water on our previous visits. Our last stop was to see Beach 360 part of the Resorts World complex. Then it was back to the Nieuw Statendam where I spent the rest of the day catching rays... This is our last port on this cruise before we bid farewell to our friends Laura and Bobbi…it was a great week sailing with them.
