San Francisco, California Day 2, Part 2 of 2

I went out first thing this morning and there was a layer of fog over San Diego and was not sure what the day would bring. Ann, Cathy, Pauline, Mike and I booked a wonderful tour today exploring a lot of new territory…. Roger, our guide, picked us up at 8:00 am sharp and off we went. The weather turned out to be just amazing. We covered the following points of interest on our 9-hour tour:

·       Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf

·       Ghirardelli Square

·       Lombard Street

·       Chrissy Park

·       Palace of Fine Arts

·       Presidio

·       Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Points and North Vista Point

·       Climbed Tamalpias Mountain to Muir Woods Marin to see the 500 to 900 year old Redwood trees

·       Muir Beach overlook

·       Sausalito and Issaquah Point Houseboat community

·       Picnic lunch at Mollie Stone’s

·       Cavallo Point

·       Marin Headlands Rodeo Beach Golden Gate NRA (National Recreation Area) 22,000 acres overlooking the Golden Gate Straights and across from Baker Beach

·       Battery Spencer Lookout

·       Sea Cliff Estates, a very affluent area.

·       Land’s End and Lincoln Park Golf Course

·       Legion of Honor and Holocaust Memorial Palace

·       Twin Peaks

·       Richmond District

·       Fort Miley

·       Naval Memorial of the Guadalcanal

·       Windmill at Queen Wilhelmina Park

 To end the day, Cathy and I visited Coit Tower for a great view of the ship and city. When we parked at the Coit Tower there was a Coyote alert sign, as luck would have it we spotted two coyotes on our way back to the ship. Nice surprise to cap off our day…  It was an absolutely amazing day and thanks to Roger for his knowledge of the San Francisco area and taking us to see many new sites. To finish off the day, after dinner, we went out on a the back deck for sail away from San Francisco. During our time in San Francisco, we had a great time and excellent weather.  On to Ensenada….
