Puerto Vallarta, Mexico...

I got up way too early to photograph the sail into Puerto Vallarta only to discover a very disappointing pitch-black skyline. At least I got to see Puerto Vallarta in the dark….  Cathy and I got off the ship at 8:00 am to take a taxi to downtown Puerto Vallarta. Puerto Vallarta is one of the most beautiful and luxurious vacation spots in all of Mexico. If Puerto Vallarta could be boiled down to one snapshot, it would be its iconic Malecon where we started our walk. From the center of downtown we followed the coastline to the historic district and the iconic sail-shaped pier. Some of the damage sustained from Hurricane Norma in August 2021 was still evident in the buildings abutting the Malecon. Along the way, we had stunning views of the Bay of Banderas. We navigated the cobblestone streets of downtown and along the way we visited the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  Beautiful Church!  We strolled past many of the hottest restaurants and crossed the bridge over the Rio Cuale, stopping to view the city's sculptures and beaches. Having been to Puerto Vallarta many times before and in need of a watch battery we visited the Guadalajara Watch Shop in downtown before returning to the ship. I’ve been going to see this guy for many years… We ran into some familiar faces along the way…  We ran into Diane & John as well as Gyl & Howard.  It was a wonderful visit to Puerto Vallarta.  We decided to take a taxi back to the ship and relax in the Retreat.  It was another very, very hot day in the Retreat with a heat index of 102°F. I still loved every minute of it… Beats winter any day!
