Mazatlán, Mexico...

Back to lovely Mazatlán…  It was a far less hazy sky than our last visit into Mazatlán but still quite a bit of smoke in the air.  It was a lovely sail-in and sunrise. Ann, Cathy and I left the ship as soon as it was cleared and followed the “Blue Line” through the historic old district of Mazatlán to the Machado Square. Since our visit last week, the square has been decorated the Day of the Dead holiday on November 1st and 2nd. Continuing along we arrived at Republic Square across from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Following our visit to the Cathedral we hired a Pulmonia open air taxi to give us a tour of the Old City. First, we ascended the El Mirador to a viewpoint well above the city. From here we toured a few streets of Old Mazatlán then along the Malecon stopping for a photo at the Pedro Infante Monument, along Paseo del Centenario to Canon Marea Mirador for some great views. Our last stop before returning to the ship was to see a daring high-flying cliff diver at the Mirador “El Corazon”...not for a the faint of heart. We returned to the ship, Ann and Cathy stopped to shop and I went directly to the Retreat…another beautiful day in the mid 90’s.
