Rotterdam 2024, Willemstad, Curacao...

After a couple of beautiful days at sea, we are off again on our next adventure… Today, we visited one of my favorite Caribbean islands, Curacao. I caught the last bit of our sail into Curacao before I had to meet Cathy at 0730...  We got off the ship early and headed to town. We stopped at the RIF Fort on our way to the Otrobanda district of Willemstad. To our surprise the Church of Scientology ship the Freewinds was docked…in the past we have only seen this ship in Aruba and Cartagena, Columbia. The Otrobanda area of Willemstad is noted for its beautiful wall art, and it was our mission today to find all we could. In this district, the neighborhood has been renovated from an impoverished state and decorated with murals.  This area has great street art and buildings that show beauty in their decay…. hope you enjoy! After touring we returned to the ship and spent the rest of the day in the Retreat. One last thing before I end today’s blog, I wanted to mention…Last evening we attended a performance of “Island Magic” in the World Stage…this Steel pan band from Trinidad & Tobago is simply amazing…   The last time we had the pleasure of sailing with them in 2018-2019 on the Zuiderdam. I went to their shows for 5 months and enjoyed every minute…  Another wonderful day on the Rotterdam!
