This morning we docked at Havensight, the closest cruise port to downtown Charlotte Amalie. Amazingly, we were the only ship in port today... That doesn't happen too often in St. Thomas. Cathy and I were off the ship as soon as it was cleared and walked into downtown. It is such a pleasant walk along the revitalized harbor front walkway to downtown. On the way to town, we passed Fort Christian, the oldest building on St. Thomas. Charlotte Amalie was founded by the Danish in the 1600s, it is a colorful town designed in Danish colonial architecture. We walked in the historical district where most of the island’s ancient 17th-century buildings are found. The rest of the day was spent in the Retreat between downpours. We were blessed to get into town and back with no rain. Despite the rain, it was a nice day the St. Thomas. I can’t believe that the next cruise will be packing time… On January 14th, we move over to the Rotterdam for a couple of months…
