Bridgetown, Barbados...

I purposely did not get up early for sail-in today. Although, I was awakened by the 8am announcement that the ship had been cleared. Last evening, we had dinner in the Tamarind followed by the Rolling Stone Rock Room and the Orange Party…we stayed up relatively late as the weather prediction for the day was for rain showers and high winds, so we agreed to reassess our plans in the morning. Cathy and I went ashore at 9am and walked to town along the waterfront and Boardwalk to the Chamberlin Bridge. Crossing the bridge, we went under the Independence Arch and to Independence Park…. Returning we had a good view of the National Hero’s Square and the Parliament Buildings. We continued to wonder around the downtown area taking in the historic buildings like the Mutual Life Assurance Society Building, a Victorian-style with its ornate, cast-iron grillwork is a downtown landmark. It was quite a different atmosphere in Bridgetown on this visit then our last time on January 1, 2023…the town was a hub of activity, traffic wise and all the stores and businesses were open. There were 4 ships in port today…Bridgetown is a busy cruise port and turn around point for some cruise lines. Our focus today was to get our walk in and get back to the ship and that we did…spending the remainder of the day in the Retreat.  It was a day of beautiful, sunny weather with no rain.  Life is good!
