Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas, USVI...

I got up very early this morning to take photos as we sailed into Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas…  I could tell by the clouds that we might be in for some showers today like our last visit.  We, once again, were docked at Havensight, the closest cruise port to downtown Charlotte Amalie. I was off the ship as soon as it was cleared and walked to downtown to get in some exercise, snap a few pics and do a bit of shopping….   Once again, I was so impressed by the revitalized harbor front walkway to downtown.  They really did a magnificent job!  On the way to town, I passed Fort Christian, built by the Danes between 1672-1680 making it the oldest structure on St. Thomas. Charlotte Amalie is a busy, colorful town that is a host to Danish colonial architecture. I enjoyed walking in this historic district where most of the island’s ancient 17th-century buildings are found. On my return to the ship, there was a bit of rain but nothing like last time.  It actually felt pretty good. I browsed about in Havensight Mall and did a little shopping before calling it a wrap…   The rest of the day was spent in the Retreat, enjoying the sunny weather.  It was a very nice day the St. Thomas.

  1. Hi Jeff, Finally got caught up on your wonderful blog. Hope Cathy is fully recovered now and you and Ann remain well. See some signs of Spring but still raw and at the moment we have 50 mph gusts. Glad your cruising has gone well and you're having a good time. Hard to believe it almost time to head home. The time since October has just flown by. Have really enjoyed your photographs, many of the places bring back fond memories.
Wishing you an early Happy Birthday. May the coming year be filled with good health and much happiness.
