Zuiderdam MegaVoyage 2018-2019, Stockholm, Sweden, Part 2 of 2

A really beautiful and picturesque sail into Stockholm in the early morning hours….  Love all the reflections.  Part one of this blog contains the photos from this beautiful morning…  This was our second time in Stockholm so we decided to be adventurous and take the city bus and subway...It worked out so well we went ahead and bought our day passes for our next trip to Stockholm. We took the Subway to Gamla Stan, Stockholm's enchanting, medieval Old Town. We started to walk the water perimeter of Gamla Stan Island and noticed a church of interest on Riddarholmen Island, the Riddarholmen Church is now a music venue and the buildings were the Law Courts...at the foot of the bridge crossing back into Gamla Stan was the impressive House of Nobility...from here we made our way past the Parliament to the Royal Palace overlooking the inner harbor...Today, was Sweden’s National holiday...luckily we were in Gamla Stan early enough to beat the crowds...the bands and guards were being setup for the festivities in and around the Royal Palace...from there we strolled to the Stortorget Square, along the narrow, twisting alleys and cobblestone streets of Stockholm's oldest quarter. We stopped for a break before crossing to the Parliament House Island and onto City Hall...again I climbed the Tower for great views of Stockholm. Since it was such a beautiful day, we decided to return to the ship and catch some rays. Sailing out through the Stockholm archipelago and numerous islands was a delight...the topography reminds me of the 1000 Islands in the St. Lawrence River between Canada and the United States where the Scott sisters call home….  Another great day!!!!  Now it’s time to start packing for our Overland trip that starts the 9th of June….  Just to refresh, we will take a trip to Eastern Europe and make our way back to our home here on the Zuiderdam on the 27th….  Long trip but...  it will be great!!!
