Zaandam Holiday Voyage, Philipsburg, Sint Maarten...

Once again, it was an early wakeup call to get moving for sail in photos as we sailed into Phlipsburg, Sint Maarten...  As soon as the ship was cleared, Ann, Cathy and I headed to town. On past walks to town, we have noticed a group of goats hanging on the edges of rocks…today no goats and the side of the cliff had collapsed, wonder how the goats made out... We walked along the beach boardwalk toward the main pier…there is still noticeable damage from the effects of the last hurricane to hit the island, however, there has been much progress since our last stop in Sint Maarten. We continued along the boardwalk to the Walter Plantz Square. While exploring the area we always check out the incredible murals and wall paintings that adorn the buildings. These colorful works of art showcase the history and culture of St. Maarten and add a unique touch to the city’s charm. From here we started our return to the ship on Front Street passing the Methodist Church and the Courthouse. Front Street is a shopping street and we did visit a couple of our favorites, Life is Good and Tommy Bahama store for some Christmas shopping. We made our way back to the ship for some time in the sun. Another lovely day and stop in Sint Maarten….
