We have entered the Amazon… This morning, I went out early to capture photos as we made our way up to Macapá, beginning our transit up the Amazon heading to Santarém, Brazil… At Macapá, we made a technical stop, picked up our Amazon River pilots and signed a bunch of paperwork. In an hour or so, we were off on our way. The timing of our journey is important because of the drought conditions, certain areas must be transited during daylight. We should arrive in Santarém around 10:00 am tomorrow morning… Sadly, all our ports are via tendering. Generally speaking, Manaus and Santarém are ports where you dock. Oh well, it will be just fine. The scenery today was fabulous! I spent 8 hours outside taking in the scenery, catching some rays and taking a bunch of photos. Love coming to the Amazon, hopefully it will be free of low water events…
Absolutely fascinating! And what a beautiful sunset!
