Koningsdam adventure Pichilingue (La Paz), Mexico...

Today, we arrived early into the port of Pichilingue (La Paz), Mexico.  I was out and about taking photos as the sun rose and of the nice scenery as we approached Pichilingue.  Ann, Cathy and I took the first shuttle to town. On a previous visit to Pichilingue, I swam with the Whale Sharks and did not visit the city of La Paz. It was unbelievable, on the half hour shuttle bus ride to town, we had to stop for a passenger to take a potty break. Once we finally arrived in La Paz, we made our way to the Cathedral of La Paz, a beautiful example of colonial architecture. Located in the city's main square, it serves as both a historical landmark and a place of worship, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the region. Next, we walked to the Malecón, La Paz’s waterfront promenade, stretching along the beautiful Sea of Cortez. One of the highlights of the Malecón is its collection of sculptures, each telling a unique story about the region’s culture, history, and natural beauty. Also, La Paz boasts a vibrant street art scene that showcases the creativity and cultural expressions of local artists, with colorful murals adorning the walls throughout the city. We walked around the streets back from the Malecon in search of the street art. After of a couple of hours of exploring the city, we took a taxi back to the ship and spent the rest of the day in the Retreat. This evening, we are excited to be having dinner in the Tamarind with our Holland America Corporate friends, Wessel and David. A nice stop and day in Pichilingue/La Paz, Mexico.
