I
was up at 5:00 this morning, ready for another day of scenic cruising in the
Chilean Fiords…. Today, we were heading
to the Brujo or the Amalia Glacier….
Today, it was the Amalia Glacier because too much ice was blocking the
way to the Brujo Glacier. It wasn’t
looking too promising when I got outside, it was raining and extremely
overcast. The weather gods were with us,
once again, when the rains stopped just as we were arriving at the glacier…. The Amalier Glacier is a tidewater glacier
located in the Bernardo O’Higgins National Park on the Sarmiento Channel. It turned out to be a pretty good day for
scenic cruising…. Tomorrow we are in
Punta Arenas, our last port in Chile. It
is pretty disappointing that my Holland American flight to the Antarctic scheduled
for tomorrow has been cancelled…. Apparently,
the tour provider doesn’t meet the insurance requirements for Holland America
Line. This was to be the highlight for
my Grand Voyage, oh well…. We’ll just
have to figure out something exciting to do tomorrow!
Interesting about your flight cancellation. We were on Seabourn Quest in Antarctica (Dec/Jan) and had booked the Torres del Paine tour in Punta Arenas. It also involves a flight and was cancelled for the same reason.
