The
ship arrived into Callao this morning in the mist and fog...Not so great for
sail in photos but you can always have perfect conditions… It’s just something you have to live with for
travel photography. Ann, Cathy and I got
the first shuttle to the Lima, Miraflores area. While Callao does not contain
tourist attractions nor is it particularly safe, the city of Lima is a
colorful, historic, and cosmopolitan city attracting visitors from around the
world. After an hour drive to Miraflores, the shuttle dropped us at the Indian
Market. Miraflores is a district of the Lima known for its shopping areas,
gardens, flower-filled parks and beaches, it is one of the modern upscale
districts that make up the city of Lima. We made our way through the streets of
Miraflores with its wonderful street art to the famous Larcomar Shopping Mall,
built on a cliff overlooking the ocean. We made a refreshment stop at Larcomar
and walked along the Malecón to Love Park, famous for its sculpture that is
known as The Kiss. On our return to the Indian Market we walked through the
lovely John F Kennedy Park flanked by the Municipal Palace and church...we
returned to the ship late afternoon as we have a very early tour of the rest of
Lima tomorrow. We enjoyed our day in Miraflores and shopping on the pier...Life
is good!
