2025_26 Oosterdam, Ushuaia, Argentina...

I was up and out taking some sail in photos before our tour started. Our guide Andrea picked us up at the ship and we left Ushuaia headed for west to the Andes mountains. Andrea stopped at the waterfront and pointed out some sites on our way out of town. We drove from Ushuaia on Route 3, part of the legendary Pan-American Highway. The first stop was the Carbajal Valley viewpoint, with the unique peat bog formations, ski resorts and surrounding mountains. Approaching the towering Andes, the landscape unfolded beneath you in all its grandeur. The rugged peaks stretch as far as the eye can see, creating a breathtaking backdrop of the snow-capped Andes, glacial lakes, peat bogs, and Fuegian forests. About half way through our journey we had a bathroom stop at 3005 Moto Cafe, Museum and gin distillery…nice stop with some interesting motorcycles and memorabilia. Andrea drove as far as the Garibaldi Pass, a high point on Route 3 offering panoramic views of Hidden and Fagnano Lakes from Garibaldi Pass. Returning to Ushuaia, Andrea drove us up to a couple of viewpoints over the city. Before returning to the ship, Andrea kindly stopped at some souvenir shops for us. The weather was cool but we escaped the rain. It was a good day in Ushuaia. Stay tuned for scenic sailing through the Glacier Alley after we leave the port.
