Today, we were visiting Eastport Maine, on Moose Island, a place I visited a few years ago. The last time I was here, I found the town quite charming despite the rain pouring down all day… The thing I liked most was the East Quoddy Head Lighthouse, very nice… So, if you notice a huge number of lighthouse photos today, you’ll understand why. Eastport is a town in the Down East region of Maine on Moose Island at the junction of Cobscook and Passamaquoddy Bays. A causeway connects the island to the mainland. Located directly on the U.S./Canada border between New England and the Atlantic Provinces and the most eastern point of the continental United States. When we were finally docked, I first had to go through US Immigration. Then, I went ashore for a walkabout this lovely town… There is a lot of very old architecture in this town. It was interesting to just meander, just go where my eye told me that something looked interesting in a certain direction and my feet followed. Had some nice chats with some of the locals, very friendly folk. I gentleman even invited me in to see his lovely garden. I perused a few of the shops and then headed back to the ship. But I wasn’t done… Sail away had me in action again, snapping away at the East Quoddy Head Lighthouse for many angles. What a great day!!! Off to Boston we go, finishing up this cruise and beginning another… One more cruise and the Scott sisters will be here; the three amigos will be off on another adventure.
