Koningsdam adventure, Avalon, Catalina Island...

I was up very, very early this morning as we sailed into Avalon, Catalina Island for out 0700 arrival. Avalon, the charming seaside town on Catalina Island, boasts picturesque Mediterranean-style architecture and a vibrant waterfront that draws visitors year-round. Known for its beautiful beaches, local shops, and outdoor activities, Avalon offers a mix of relaxation and adventure, from snorkeling in crystal-clear waters to hiking scenic trails. The iconic Catalina Island Casino, located at the heart of Avalon, serves as a cultural hub, featuring a theater, ballroom, and a museum showcasing the island's rich history. Our original plan, before the Scott sisters had a change in plans was to rent a golf cart again and explore the island.  I highly recommend it!  So instead, I walked Avalon’s waterfront, with its clear, blue water on one side and colorful shops on the other.   I continued along the waterfront toward the Catalina Island Casino, the large, round building visible from most any place in Avalon. Along the way, I passed a few historic buildings, including the Tuna Club of Avalon and the Catalina Yacht Club.  On the way back, I walked on the Green Pleasure Pier. The pier is also a great spot to take photos. Then, I went into Latitude 32, a shop that sells Tommy Bahama shirts…  This cruise just got very expensive.  I got my 5 miles in so it was time to relax…  So, back to the ship I went for a relaxing day in the beautiful sunshine…  I’m off to a wonderful start here on the Koningsdam
