Today was moving day…after 84 days on the Koningsdam, it was bittersweet to move saying farewell to many of our ship family. To start with, it was sad to say goodbye to Abdul & Ricky, two tremendous cabin stewards who were always there for me 100% during my entire voyage. I will certainly miss Captain Draper and his tremendous leadership during trying times, Sheila, the Assistant Executive Housekeeper, Gladys, the Event Coordinator, Manny & Jeffrey in the Retreat, Jude, the Cellarmaster, Cynthia and the entire Front Office Staff, the Canalleto, Pinnacle Grill, Tamarind and Sel de Mer teams and many more… It was time for us to move on and we were much relieved when we passed our COVID test on Saturday. The transfer logistics were not quite as expected but we finally were allowed to board the Zuiderdam around 1pm. From the moment we stepped onboard the Zuiderdam it was like coming home…so many familiar faces that we have sailed with in the past from the Guest Services Supervisor, Assistant Executive Housekeeper, Food and Beverage Manager to the Dining Room Operations Manager. We went to sail away, and it was sunny but downright cold! We were able to watch the departure of the Koningsdam and a nighttime sail away for the Zuiderdam from San Diego. Just a magnificent, beautiful sail away from San Diego. It was a very long but wonderful day…. We are now off on the second day of our 6 1/2-month pandemic cruising adventure, 42 days sailing on Panama Canal voyages…. Looking forward to enjoying every day back on my home away from home, our beloved Zuiderdam…. P.S. Best ship Wi-Fi I've experienced....
Bon voyage all over again. I am all caught up with your travel write ups. Any Covid safety tips you can share please continue to do so. Randy and I sail away Jan 29 through Feb 13. Back to back Caribbean cruises Nieuw Amsterdam and Rotterdam! Greeting to Ann and Cathy! Have fun, be safe.
