Today we were in Fuerte Amador (Panama City), Panama. We decided due to the heightened threat level with COVID and the fact that we’ve been here many times to hang out on the Zuiderdam today. It was hot and steamy in the Retreat with a heat index around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. We certainly had a beautiful view of the skyline of Panama City all day. We were a bit sad to see Captain Frank van der Hoeven leave us, he was a wonderful Captain. The Zuiderdam saluted him with the ship’s whistle as he departed for home taking a tender ashore to Panama City. Seems somewhat appropriate to have the two Captains that we had on the Volendam during the 2020 Grand South America & Antarctica voyage that we were on when the pandemic hit, hand off with one another… They kept us safe then and today is no different… We are extremely pleased that Captain Friso Kramer is now the Master of the vessel. Another grand day aboard the Zuiderdam….
Jeff, smart move, you and the sisters staying on board. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteHi Jeff, Sorry you haven't been able to go ashore but you're wise to stay onboard. Glad everyone is staying well. Loving all the ship pictures you're posting. Nice that you were able to see the activity along the new locks. Impressive to see those big ships go through from the Observation Building.
