Today Aart and Ellen met us near the ship for a private guided island tour focusing on photography. Our guide was Gail Johnson, a local professional photographer. We left the RIF Fort area and headed to the far west end of the island. Our first stop was at some slave houses still inhabited today. Ellen and Gail’s friend Manja opened her ocean waterfront home to us for photo opportunities. Manja’s home was stunning and a beautiful example of island architecture of Curaçao. I loved the pool that meandered under the home… After visiting with Manja, we made our way round the island stopping at a few of the Curaçao’s beautiful beaches, mangroves and the Indian Caves. The different beaches included a blow hole and swimming with turtles. We made an interesting stop at a restored Land house, a slave owner home elevated to overlook their slave homes and their property. Just down the road, the salt pans provided a large nesting area for the pink flamingoes. Gail was a terrific guide and photographer. She taught me a lot, hope it makes me a better photographer in the future. We had a great day with wonderful friends and truly appreciate the tour opportunity Aart and Ellen provided us.... many thanks. We look forward to our next visit to Curaçao. This is part two of two blog posts....

Finally postive signs that Spring is really about to arrive. There were more than a couple of times I longed for the heat of Cartagena.
Thank you for all the wonderful ship pictures and the wildlife you find on your walks.
Excited to learn more about next year's replacement for the World Cruise.
Getting organized for another Alaska trip the end of May on the Maasdam.
