2025_26 Oosterdam, Stanley, The Falkland Islands...

I was out for sunrise and it was a beautiful one, the sky was spectacular. A perfect score for our stops in the Falkland Islands on this journey 6 out of 6! Ann, Cathy and I took the first tender to the pier in Stanley where we met our driver David and Adventure Falklands’ owner Shaun Jaffray. We enjoyed the scenery along the route to Volunteer Point until the fog rolled in, not a good thing… the fog did clear the closer we got the Point. Like our previous visit the Gentoo penguins are still located adjacent to where we rinse our feet before entering the reserve…today the reflections shot of the Gentoos in the pond were plentiful. Being a creature of habit, I went straight away to the beach in case there were marching penguins and I was in luck again capturing many videos of different penguin groups going and retreating from the water. We could watch the penguins marching for hours. We had another wonderful day at Volunteer Point, it never disappoints and were able to see the King, Gentoo and Magellanic penguins before the crowds arrived. Walking amongst the penguins we noticed a number of abandoned eggs and dead baby chicks. Leaving Volunteer Point we took a different route and drove along the beach for quite some time before getting to the main road. As always, the scenery returning to Stanley is stunning and we did a side trip to the east end of Stanley by the airport, Gypsy Cove, Yorke Beach. We had another stellar day in the Falklands! We would be remiss if we did not mention the great service and experiences we had from Shaun of Adventure Falklands, his driver Terrence and David our driver for the last 5 of our 6 stops in the Falklands. We thoroughly enjoyed every tour we had and highly recommend Adventure Falklands to anyone going to Falkland Islands! Tonight, we are having dinner with favorite Future Cruise Consultant Chantal.
