Ian, Carole & I had a wonderful day exploring the older part of Manila today with my friend Raymund’s sister-in-law Bhang. We started out in Intramuros, the original walled city, at Ft. Santiago. It was great fun there and we took a lot of photos, manly of ourselves… Then we went to San Augustin, Manila’s oldest church, built in 1586. It is absolutely beautiful in the inside, magnificent! Then it was off to the markets, catching people in their everyday lives, seeing the real Manila. Then I walked around a bit, crossing the Del Pan Bridge, catching sights along the river. We finished with a stop at Rizal Park before heading back to the ship. It was a great day! To top off the day was a wonderful sendoff by the fillipinos as we sailed out of Manila harbor. This is part one of two parts, part two will come tomorrow when I feel more up to the challenge….
