2025_26 Oosterdam, Glacier Alley, Chile...

About about 6:30 this evening, the Oosterdam began its journey to another special sailing destination: The Beagle Channel. A strait in the Tierra del Fuego Archipelago, partly in Argentina and partly in Chile, the Beagle Channel is named after Charles Darwin’s ship, the HMS Beagle. The area we explored is known as Glacier Alley, and it’s definitely not what comes to mind when describing an “alley!” Glacier Alley is a short stretch of Beagle Channel, that showcases 5 glaciers, named primarily after European countries (Holland, Italy, France, Germany and Romanche). This alley is famous for its dramatic glaciers that flow from the Darwin Ice Field into the sea creating spectacular landscapes of icefalls, waterfalls, and deep blue ice.  What a great way to top off a spectacular day…
