I was out about 6 am to set up for day two of Antarctic
Adventure…stellar weather, blue skies and less wind a definite change from
yesterday. I’ve been in the Antarctic with both ugly and beautiful weather… I lean heavily to the beautiful weather. When I was setting up my equipment, we were just
beginning our approach to King George Island. Our first scenic stop this
morning was Admiralty Bay which is part of the South Shetland Islands of the
Antarctic Peninsula. The island is home to a number of scientific research
stations, including four along Admiralty Bay which we were able to see two of
them as we cruised by, the Henryk Arctowski Polish Antarctic Station and the British,
Pieter J. Lenie Base. The scenery inside Admiralty Bay is absolutely
spectacular, the dramatic glaciers and abundance of wildlife…really words
cannot describe the stillness and pristine beauty as far as the eye can see!
Stay tuned for Part 2 with our stop at Deception Island later today.
