Amsterdam 2024, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, Day 4...

Today was about friendships…  We met our friend Claes at the central station this morning and it was so great to see him again.  It was another beautiful day, so we started our Amsterdam adventure with our own private guide. In the past Claes lived in Amsterdam so he was very familiar and knowledgeable with the history of the city. We first went to Amsterdam’s Chinatown, and it was news to us that it was located in the Red-Light district…the area consists of a number of cities blocks full of Asian markets, restaurants and shops. We continued to meander through the cobbled streets, finding market squares, canal houses, age-old churches, the Rembrandt House, the Jewish quarter, Dam Square. We stopped for a nice lunch at the Tivoli Doelen Hotel on the banks of the Amstel River. We had a relaxing day just wandering the city taking in the beautiful architecture, history and catching up with our old friend. Thanks, Claes, for spending the day with us in your city.
