Visiting the Panama Canal is always a treat, no matter how
many times you’ve done it…. I just am drawn
to it, I can’t just pull up a lounge chair and let things just pass me by. It was a prefect morning, albeit, a very
early call for our entrance past the breakwaters as we headed to Gatun Locks…. This was only a partial transit, go through
the Gatun Locks, anchor in Gatun Lake for a few hours and then head back out
the way we came…. Everything was going
very smoothly until scattered showers turned into thunderstorms with a heavy
downpour…. Fortunately, we got into
Gatun Lake pretty dry so it was a successful transit, especially for the newcomers. After exiting the Canal, we headed to Colon,
where we picked up people who were on excursions and provided a shopping
experience for those having withdrawals…. It was a very nice day overall…. I included lots of ship pictures for my
friend Aart van Essen who just loves ships…
I have to say, I am loving every minute of my experience here on the
Zuiderdam. The Officers and Crew are amazing… they have made me feel so welcome here aboard
the Zuiderdam…. The ship is in
Outstanding condition, a testament to the care and attention I have observed from
the senior staff, starting with the Master of the Vessel himself, Captain
Wouter van Hoogdalem. The food, service
and entertainment have been wonderful…..
My stateroom attendants, Joe & Diyah have exceeded every expectation…. I really feel good about being here on the
Zuiderdam…. This was a great decision….
