This morning we headed out early from West Yellowstone and headed for Missoula Montana. On the way we encountered a pretty cool bear from a fairly close distance. Then it was off for a scenic drive across Montana with a stop at the Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park. I love driving across Montana... beautiful place. The caverns were really pretty wonderful... They are a pretty fair size and have wonderful stalactites & stalagmites as well as a number of other formations. The shapes and colors were fabulous... It was a pretty good hike up to the top of the mountain where the entrance was but you can cool down pretty quickly inside. The temperature inside was about 50 degrees... After leaving there it was off to scenic driving again which was interrupted by a huge thunderstorm with hail and lots of very hard rain. We did arrive into Missoula safely fro the evening. Tomorrow we head for Clarkston Washington where we start our Hell's Canyon adventure....
I have wanted to go to those caves for awhile now!! Thanks for the pics!
