2011 Colorado Roadtrip

I kicked off my road trip yesterday with a flight to Philadelphia to Denver Colorado. This morning the trip began by heading North to Wyoming. First up was the Oregon Ruts in Guernsey Wyoming and the Register Cliff  where you can see tracks through sandstone when the wagon trains headed west...  it went up to 5 foot deep as they wore away the sandstone.  On the Register Cliff you can see the names of people that carved their names in the sandstone back in the 1800s. From there I headed straight to Devils Tower. I wanted to see Devils Tower for a very long time and I was not disappointed. The tower itself is very impressive with the proper light makes a wonderful photo.  Tomorrow at dawn may be another trip to Devils Tower and then take a trek to Rapid City South Dakota where sites such as Mount Rushmore and the Badlands National Park will be visited.

  1. Did you hear the theme song from "The Encounters of the Third Kind" while there? Thank you for sharing a history and geography lesson. Wow, the Devil's Tower is awesome.
