Day 24 Nagasaki, Japan (Part 1 of 2)

Today was a nice return visit to Nagasaki….  The sail into Nagasaki is just so beautiful…  That alone made my day!  Once we were docked, I was ready to go.  I left the ship early with John…  we got our day pass for the Streetcar and we were off.  I had an excellent, albeit sobering, trip here last year.  The events of August 9th 1945 when the second Atomic bomb was dropped here creates a different kind of atmosphere.  I returned to the Peace Park, Ground Zero and the Atomic Bomb Museum.  It was certainly much more active than the last time I was here.  School kids were here in droves, taking tours, receiving lectures and even singing at ground zero.  It was a nice return visit.  We then we out by the Nagasaki JR train station where we had lunch, got a little WiFi and hit a few shops.  Then we went to the Hamanomachi Shopping Arcade where we sat with George & Jonathan for a while so we could check emails.  China Town was our last stop before heading back to the ship.  It was a wonderful day!!!

  1. Is it just me, or is it weird that Nagasaki, Japan has a China Town?
