I was up early and out for our sail in to Charlottetown. It was mighty nippy on the forward deck for the sail under the Confederation Bridge. With our late arrival we had no fog to contend with so I was able to get a good photo of Blockhouse Point Lighthouse. We decided to walk around town today rain as in the forecast. Off the ship we were greeted by Ann of Green Gables and local girls dancing a jig to Celtic music…a fine welcome to Prince Edward Island. We toured the terminal with its array of local products. Moving on we walked through Confederation Landing Park around the harbor just in time for the rain. We stopped briefly at to Peake’s Wharf, the waterfront boardwalk. Next in the teaming rain we walked to St. Dunstan Basilica, Great George Street Historic District with its beautifully preserved Georgian architecture, Victoria Row and back along Queen Street a great example of Victorian architecture with historic tales about Charlottetown. We stopped at Linda’s Cafe for a break from the rain. We made our way back to the ship stopping at Peake’s Wharf and Beavertails for a delicious pastry snack. We spent a leisurely afternoon on the ship. Despite the wind and driving rain it is always a great stop in Charlottetown…
