Koningsdam adventure, Nawiliwili, Kauai...

I went out on the bow early to take some sail in photos as we approached Nawiliwili, Kauai.  With over 70% of the island being inaccessible by land, Kauai is truly best seen from the sky. Again, we used our favorite Kauai airplane tour company, Wings Over Kauai to tour the island. On this incredible Airvan tour of Kauai, we experienced views so beautiful they would take your breath away. Jim & Lisa got their first taste of a small plane flightseeing tour and the first of Kauai.  Our pilot explored the stunning Manawaiopuna Falls, also known as Jurassic Park falls, wedged in between the emerald green mountaintop of the Hanapepe Valley. We flew over the amazing views of the Olokele Canyon and majestic Waimea Canyon, often called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, where we caught sight of dozens of waterfalls. For us the pinnacle was Kauai’s magical North Shore revealing the sculpted green valleys and 3,000-foot sea cliffs of the Na Pali Coast, the pristine turquoise blue waters of Hanalei Bay. Marcus spotted whales off the Na Pali coast and he circled to get better views of the Moma and baby whales…this area is a breeding ground for the humpback whales. With good weather on our side, the pilot flew over Mount Waialeale, a dormant shield volcano with over 450 inches of rainfall each year…this was a truly awe-inspiring finish to our flight over the Garden Isle. The views were amazing and our pilot Marcus provided a great color commentary. Another great day in Kauai followed by the afternoon relaxing in the sun.
