I just wanted to inform all the wonderful people who follow my blog religiously that I will be closing up after this magnificent world voyage. I have been blogging for about 10 years and have loved sharing my adventures around the world with you. It has gotten to the point where sometimes it is just way to difficult to post my blog. The last day in Ponta Delgado took over an hour and a half of Internet time to post. That makes for some very late nights. So, I have decided, for now, to stop blogging while at sea, unless I am asked, once again, to be a featured Holland America Line blogger. So what will I do in the meantime. I will continue exploring the world, taking thousands of photos and sharing them with friends onboard and publishing books. I just won't put my adventures out into the blogosphere.... It will take a little getting used to but I'll quickly get used to having all that extra time on my hands. If I go on some more road trips, I will certainly blog those adventures. I hope you have enjoyed my blog and you never know, I may start again some day..... Now, back to packing!
Hello Jeff, thanks for all the wonderful pictures, comments a.s.o. Thank you for all the hours, days and nights you spent so that we could enjoy the blogs all the years around. Hope to see you again somewhere. Take care and stay healthy. Gerard and Angelique from Holland.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your decision Jeff. I have enjoyed your blog daily for years and will miss it tremendously. You have certainly led us to consider a World Cruise. You are a great photographer and also loved your narrative. That being said, I hope you will let everyone know if you are a HAL blogger. Meanwhile, best wishes to you thanks very, very much.
ReplyDeleteJeff - Just wanted to thank you for all the time you have spent on this trip sharing with us your comments and wonderful pictures from around the world. Those of us that aren't as fortunate to travel as you have been enjoying your extensive reviews of all the places that you have seen. Your pictures have been awesome and the sites you have seen were just amazing and once in a lifetime. I hope that if you ever start a new blog I'll find it to be able to follow along. This was one of the first things I would check in the morning to see where you had traveled to the day before. From one of your followers - just want to wish you well and hope you have many more years of fun and safe travels.....Welcome back to the states - from a country girl from Ohio.....
ReplyDeleteHi Jeff - I have followed your "World Cruise" blog for the past several years and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every post. I've often wondered how your find the time to post every day while exploring the various ports as much as you do. Your blog has been a true labor of love. I will miss your blog, and I certainly understand your decision to stop. All the best in your future endeavors.
ReplyDeleteHaving followed you for several years I am sorry we will be missing your wonderful travel blog, but I understand your decision. Happy travelling.
ReplyDeleteWell this is certainly a sad day! While I totally understand your decision the world will be a little smaller for the people that follow your blogs. You have given thousands of hours to this wonderful blog and for that I thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blogs and the photos over the years! I get how much time you've spent on this and have been amazed that you continue. I tried blogging on my trips for a while and then decided it took up too much precious travel time. So I respect your decision. Enjoy your future travels! Maybe we'll meet at sea one day.
ReplyDeleteI am very sorry to hear of your decision, Jeff, but I understand. Thank you for sharing the world with us. You have helped me through some very cold winters in New England. I've so enjoyed coming home from a long day at work and disappearing into your travels for a period of time. You've shown me places in the world that I know I will never see with my own eyes. Thank you, sincerely, for all that you have done.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderful blogs, we've followed you for the last three years. Don't know how you've kept up with it all. Happy sailing and best wishes!!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this.. I have followed you around the world and then some. Thank You for that. I'm so sorry I won't have my daily blog reads but someday maybe.... Stay well, keep healthy and keep us in your travels. Fran

ReplyDeleteI have thoroughly enjoyed your blog and you have been so faithful in keeping it up to date. I have been able to revisit a few places I have traveled and enjoy many places I will never get to visit. I hope you will reconsider at some point and time but I respect your decision. Be sure to inform your followers of any future blogs as we would not want to miss them.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff for all the time and effort you put into your blog. My wife and I have enjoyed following your journey every morning as we sip our morning coffee. You're an inspiration to other global travelers and we wish you many more fun times as you explore this incredible planet of ours.
ReplyDeleteGreat decision-now more time to reflect on all the wonderful places you continue to visit and I am sure that HAL will be asking you to contribute
ReplyDeleteMany people have enjoyed travelling vicariously through your words and excellent photos-sure that any book published will be a best seller !
Many thanks for all your past efforts and look forward to the road trips and "PERHAPS" some future cruise blogs
Thank you so much for your amazing blog, you are a gifted photographer, and your photos from around the world are a wonderful joy !!!
ReplyDeleteI am going to write to Holland America and ask them to ask you to be a featured Holland America Line blogger , so that hopefully you can continue with the best blog ever !!! We wish you all the best wherever you go and whatever you do, we will be waiting for your next posts !!! Thank you again for sharing your blog and for all your hard work, we enjoyed this fantastic blog a lot !!!
Jeff, thank you very much for all your blogs, time and money over the years. I have been following your blog since 2007. How Iam going to get through winter times, since you will no longer blog and your friends John and Diane will no longer be taking full world cruises, I have no idea, but it surely needs adjustment from my side.
ReplyDeleteReally hope you can and will be HAL's featured blogger and I know lots of people feel the same.
In the meantime, take care and enjoy life to the MAX. Thank you again. Pralientje
Thank you for sharing the world. It is a magical place. You have dented our retirement funds. From viewing your blog we caught the bug and took two world cruises on the Amsterdam, and got used to you being the first off the ship with your camera hanging on your chest. Next year we will try the Grand Med for a shorter experience. Also looking forward to the return of the Grand Asia.
ReplyDeleteCalm seas and a following breeze!
I wonder if HAL knows how many world cruisers got the idea from your blog?
Thank you for sharing your wonderful photos and experiences. it was wonderful following you in your travel . Stay well and enjoy your next adventure !
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed your blog for years, sorry you will be discontinuing it, but I completely understand. I cannot believe you were willing to upload all those great photos with slow shipboard internet. Thanks for the good times.
ReplyDeleteJeff, I have never met you , but through your blog know all about you. You spoiled us every day with beautiful pictures of the entire world. I hope to take a WC once I retire. I understand your decision, but hope that after being home a few months you may change your mind and surprise the world with another report or two from the Amsterdam.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great times!!
Ted
Hi Just to say thank you for a marvellous blog. We came across it by accident when looking for information about the Amsterdam. Our son works on board and we have been looking at your blog daily to see through your eyes some of the places he has been to (he tells us nothing). You have even managed to take a photo of him with some of the other officers and the President of Holland America Line. It has been a joy to here from someone who loves life as you obviously do. Once again many thanks.

Hi Jeff.. we only sailed with you one time back in 2010 on the M (not your favorite ship).. sorry to hear that you are packing it in with your great Blog--been following it for a long while now.. the latest we heard over the past few cruises we've been on many changes in the near future with HAL and the new HAL Group and will NOT be to the delight of high-day die-hard Mariners.. but you probably know that already.. best of luck in your continued travels.. hoping again to read this Blog in the future :) :)
ReplyDeleteJeff,
ReplyDeleteYour zest for life is contagious and the generous sharing of your adventures has been both amazing and inspiring. It’s one of the reasons we booked a HAL cruise for this summer. Too bad the technology hasn’t always been there for you. However, we look forward to your postings from the road. But first, we hope you enjoy a well-deserved break. After all, you’ve been at sea longer than most of the crew.
Thanks again,
Bill and Carolyn
Jeff,
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking us along on all your journeys. I've been following your blog for a number of years and cannot imagine a winter without your adventures.
I, for one, will miss your blogs very much. It was something I looked forward to each day. Your photography is amazing and your sense of adventure is wonderful.
I am sorry you will not be continuing your blog but totally understand. I hope you reconsider.
I wish you many more years of happy travels and hope to meet you some day on a DAM ship.
Terri
I look forward to your blog everyday, and I am really going to miss it. I hope you have many more happy travels. Thank you for the trips!

Thank you so much for your blog; I have enjoyed it the past several years. Your great pictures and postive commentary have been a real pleasure and have encouraged me to consider another longer duration cruise. I hope you continue to blog just in general, but also travel that you do in the future, may it be land or sea. Best to you, Sandra
ReplyDeleteThank You, Thank You, Thank You, You have given a lot of us a peek into places we never knew existed, and a longing to become a more adventurous soul. I wish blue skies.
ReplyDeleteJeff - Thanks for bringing the world to my little home here in Missouri. It has been a joy to read your adventures and relish the pictures.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to you always. Cindy
Thank you so much for your blog. I found it after having been on the Rotterdam the cruise before the World Voyage and I have followed it ever since. I enjoyed your pictures and reading about your experiences, it opened the world to me. Your blog was the way that I would start my day. I will miss it, but understand the issues with keeping it up and slow internet. Continue to enjoy your travels. Mellanie
ReplyDeleteHi Jeff,
ReplyDeleteFrom the bottom of my heart, I thank you ! My only brother and sister (and mates) ages 80 - 90 - decided to take just one more 'this is our last' WC.' What a thrill for me to follow along and watch over them through your daily blog. I had planned to follow you anywhere :( - but, I'm too grateful to complain. Thank so much, Jill
I refuse to believe that you would walk away from your blog. That is my number one travel resource for booking HAL cruises. Please reconsider.
ReplyDeleteWe will miss your adventures. Keep in touch and the best to you. Bill and Barbara
ReplyDeleteJeff, I discovered your blog several years ago and have followed since then. Many thanks for all the great comment and photos. It has definitely expanded my bucket list. Smooth sailing and following seas.
ReplyDeleteJeff. Your adventures have helped me get through Upstate NY winters since 1998. Thanks for doing it all these years.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff for sharing your adventures and beautiful photos which always manage to capture the essence of the people and places which you visit.
ReplyDeleteI am pleased that you have decided to take a break from blogging, as you have given enough pleasure to enough people to last a lifetime.
I can only imagine how much time (and internet patience) blogging must have taken. I have trouble keeping up, and I'm only reading and admiring.
I hope you now enjoy taking this opportunity to smell the roses for yourself.
Thank you so much for sharing your photo's and adventures with the rest of the world... Sad to hear that the blogging is discontinuing - but you have most definitely put in your time... Hope to see your photo's in book form soon!! Thank you... A fan from Gananoque!
