Blog update....

I just wanted to inform all the wonderful people who follow my blog religiously that I will be closing up after this magnificent world voyage.  I have been blogging for about 10 years and have loved sharing my adventures around the world with you.  It has gotten to the point where sometimes it is just way to difficult to post my blog.  The last day in Ponta Delgado took over an hour and a half of Internet time to post.  That makes for some very late nights.  So, I have decided, for now, to stop blogging while at sea, unless I am asked, once again, to be a featured Holland America Line blogger.  So what will I do in the meantime.  I will continue exploring the world, taking thousands of photos and sharing them with friends onboard and publishing books.  I just won't put my adventures out into the blogosphere....  It will take a little getting used to but I'll quickly get used to having all that extra time on my hands.  If I go on some more road trips, I will certainly blog those adventures.  I  hope you have enjoyed my blog and you never know, I may start again some day..... Now, back to packing!

  2. So sorry to hear about your decision Jeff. I have enjoyed your blog daily for years and will miss it tremendously. You have certainly led us to consider a World Cruise. You are a great photographer and also loved your narrative. That being said, I hope you will let everyone know if you are a HAL blogger. Meanwhile, best wishes to you thanks very, very much.

  3. Jeff - Just wanted to thank you for all the time you have spent on this trip sharing with us your comments and wonderful pictures from around the world. Those of us that aren't as fortunate to travel as you have been enjoying your extensive reviews of all the places that you have seen. Your pictures have been awesome and the sites you have seen were just amazing and once in a lifetime. I hope that if you ever start a new blog I'll find it to be able to follow along. This was one of the first things I would check in the morning to see where you had traveled to the day before. From one of your followers - just want to wish you well and hope you have many more years of fun and safe travels.....Welcome back to the states - from a country girl from Ohio.....

  4. Hi Jeff - I have followed your "World Cruise" blog for the past several years and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every post. I've often wondered how your find the time to post every day while exploring the various ports as much as you do. Your blog has been a true labor of love. I will miss your blog, and I certainly understand your decision to stop. All the best in your future endeavors.

I tried blogging on my trips for a while and then decided it took up too much precious travel time. So I respect your decision. Enjoy your future travels! Maybe we'll meet at sea one day.

  8. I am very sorry to hear of your decision, Jeff, but I understand. Thank you for sharing the world with us. You have helped me through some very cold winters in New England. I've so enjoyed coming home from a long day at work and disappearing into your travels for a period of time. You've shown me places in the world that I know I will never see with my own eyes. Thank you, sincerely, for all that you have done.

  17. Jeff, thank you very much for all your blogs, time and money over the years. I have been following your blog since 2007. How Iam going to get through winter times, since you will no longer blog and your friends John and Diane will no longer be taking full world cruises, I have no idea, but it surely needs adjustment from my side.
Really hope you can and will be HAL's featured blogger and I know lots of people feel the same.
In the meantime, take care and enjoy life to the MAX. Thank you again. Pralientje

  18. Thank you for sharing the world. It is a magical place. You have dented our retirement funds. From viewing your blog we caught the bug and took two world cruises on the Amsterdam, and got used to you being the first off the ship with your camera hanging on your chest. Next year we will try the Grand Med for a shorter experience. Also looking forward to the return of the Grand Asia.

Calm seas and a following breeze!

I wonder if HAL knows how many world cruisers got the idea from your blog?

  20. I have enjoyed your blog for years, sorry you will be discontinuing it, but I completely understand. I cannot believe you were willing to upload all those great photos with slow shipboard internet. Thanks for the good times.

  21. Jeff, I have never met you , but through your blog know all about you. You spoiled us every day with beautiful pictures of the entire world. I hope to take a WC once I retire. I understand your decision, but hope that after being home a few months you may change your mind and surprise the world with another report or two from the Amsterdam.
Thank you for the great times!!

  22. Hi Just to say thank you for a marvellous blog. We came across it by accident when looking for information about the Amsterdam. Our son works on board and we have been looking at your blog daily to see through your eyes some of the places he has been to (he tells us nothing). You have even managed to take a photo of him with some of the other officers and the President of Holland America Line. It has been a joy to here from someone who loves life as you obviously do. Once again many thanks.

Hi Jeff.. we only sailed with you one time back in 2010 on the M (not your favorite ship).. sorry to hear that you are packing it in with your great Blog--been following it for a long while now.. the latest we heard over the past few cruises we've been on many changes in the near future with HAL and the new HAL Group and will NOT be to the delight of high-day die-hard Mariners.. but you probably know that already.. best of luck in your continued travels.. hoping again to read this Blog in the future :) :)

  24. Jeff,

Your zest for life is contagious and the generous sharing of your adventures has been both amazing and inspiring. It’s one of the reasons we booked a HAL cruise for this summer. Too bad the technology hasn’t always been there for you. However, we look forward to your postings from the road. But first, we hope you enjoy a well-deserved break. After all, you’ve been at sea longer than most of the crew.

    Thanks again,

    Bill and Carolyn

  27. Thank you so much for your blog; I have enjoyed it the past several years. Your great pictures and postive commentary have been a real pleasure and have encouraged me to consider another longer duration cruise. I hope you continue to blog just in general, but also travel that you do in the future, may it be land or sea. Best to you, Sandra

  30. Thank you so much for your blog. I found it after having been on the Rotterdam the cruise before the World Voyage and I have followed it ever since. I enjoyed your pictures and reading about your experiences, it opened the world to me. Your blog was the way that I would start my day. I will miss it, but understand the issues with keeping it up and slow internet. Continue to enjoy your travels. Mellanie

  31. Hi Jeff,
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you ! My only brother and sister (and mates) ages 80 - 90 - decided to take just one more 'this is our last' WC.' What a thrill for me to follow along and watch over them through your daily blog. I had planned to follow you anywhere :( - but, I'm too grateful to complain. Thank so much, Jill

  36. Thank you Jeff for sharing your adventures and beautiful photos which always manage to capture the essence of the people and places which you visit.

I am pleased that you have decided to take a break from blogging, as you have given enough pleasure to enough people to last a lifetime.

I can only imagine how much time (and internet patience) blogging must have taken. I have trouble keeping up, and I'm only reading and admiring.

I hope you now enjoy taking this opportunity to smell the roses for yourself.
