As the day continued, we spent some time checking out the various viewpoints around Rabaul, the Namanula Hill Lookout, the Japanese War Memorial and the Million Dollar view from the Vulcanological Observatory. We even went back to Matupit Island from a look at the Japanese “betty” bomber buried have in volcanic ash. It was a spectacular day with great scenery and wonderful people
Awesome photos! All of them!
ReplyDeleteI remember my dad told me stories from New Guinea, he went there as a sailor right after WWII, bringing a japanese atttache who tried to contact some japanese forces who still were there. He helped the japanese guy around, and they had some scary but interesting experiences.
